The collaboration with the Calumet Area Industrial Commission equips local residents with the necessary skills for today’s manufacturing roles.

MANTENO, Ill., June 6, 2025 — Gotion Illinois, a global leader in advanced energy storage and battery technology, welcomed 15 local residents to its Manteno manufacturing plant after they completed a training program. This marks the first graduating class from a partnership that reinforces Gotion’s dedication to hiring locally.

The first graduates of the CAIC jobs program at Gotion Illinois tour the Manteno plant, exploring career opportunities in advanced manufacturing.

The Calumet Area Industrial Commission (CAIC) developed the program to give students fundamental and sophisticated skills applicable to modern manufacturing. It emphasizes practical experience, safety protocols, production methods, and quality assurance, all of which are essential to Gotion Illinois’ operations.

“Gotion Illinois is pleased to partner with CAIC to develop a skilled manufacturing workforce in Manteno and the surrounding area,” said Mark Kreusel, General Manager of Gotion Illinois. “Initiatives like this demonstrate our mutual dedication to creating clear paths to high-tech jobs while investing in the communities we are a part of.”

The training concluded with a graduation ceremony and a tour of the plant, where students were celebrated for their achievements. Importantly, each graduate will have the chance to interview with Gotion Illinois, potentially transforming their training into actual jobs.

“As CAIC continues to support workforce development, partnerships such as this one highlight the impact of cooperation between community-focused organizations and forward-thinking manufacturers,” stated Ted Stalnos, President/CEO of CAIC. “When a company like Gotion Illinois provides the opportunity for local, well-paying jobs for CAIC program graduates, the motivation to seize the opportunity increases for our local workforce.”

Gotion Illinois is investing $2 billion to transform a large warehouse in Manteno into a cutting-edge energy storage and battery manufacturing facility. Currently, over 300 people are employed there, and that number is expected to reach 2,600 once the facility is fully operational.

Registration for the upcoming CAIC program will begin on June 16. Additional details can be found on the CAIC website: calumetareaindustrial.com.
