In the first six days after its release, the series hit an iQIYI popularity index of over 10,000 in China, claimed the No. 1 spot on iQIYI International’s “TOP 10 Chinese Language Dramas Weekly Chart” in its first week, led relevant Google Trends, and earned a high position on MyDramaList. Released at the same time on iQIYI’s global platforms with 14 subtitle languages and five dubbing choices, the drama reached varied audiences in 191 countries and territories.

The drama centers on Zheng XIE, a disgraced marquis out for revenge over a 17-year grudge, and Changyu FAN, a butcher’s daughter intent on leading her family. A random meeting during a snowstorm pushes the two strangers into a marriage of necessity, but as their unwilling partnership grows into love, war splits them apart. Google Trends data revealed that during the same period, the series had the highest search volume for Chinese dramas in 15 markets—such as Thailand, the U.S., Canada, Malaysia, South Korea, and Singapore—and also became the top global Chinese historical drama released in 2025 so far.

On MyDramaList, a top Asian entertainment rating site, “Pursuit of Jade” started with a 9.0 rating before climbing to 9.1—setting the highest debut score for a Chinese drama on the platform in two years. The series also drove consistent social media activity, with related topics trending on X in Thailand, Indonesia, and Brazil.

The series’ strong performance also boosted interest in its lead actors’ prior work on the platform. On iQIYI International, four shows starring Linghe ZHANG are on the iQIYI International All-Time TOP 10 Chinese Language Dramas Chart. One of these, “The Best Thing,” leads both the All-Time and 2025 Annual Charts at No. 1, having stayed on the weekly rankings for 54 weeks. Since “Pursuit of Jade” debuted, Xiwei TIAN’s body of work has seen similar growth, with “New Life Begins” entering the All-Time TOP 10.
