- The deal will deliver U.S.-produced energy storage initiatives throughout a collection of utility-scale locations
- Initiatives are planned for 2028-2030
- Every initiative will comply with U.S. domestic content standards
WESTBOROUGH, Mass. and HOUSTON, Feb. 3, 2026 — LG Energy Solution Vertech and Qcells – pioneers in energy solutions and products – today revealed a multi-year pledge to deploy dependable, cost-effective, U.S.-manufactured storage solutions for Qcells’ nationwide development initiatives. The pact encompasses 5GWh of lithium-ion energy storage ventures for utility-scale developments, plus lifecycle support from LG Energy Solution Vertech. This pact backs Qcells EPC initiatives slated for 2028 – 2030. Additionally, in May 2024, Qcells signed battery procurement contracts with LG Energy Solution Vertech covering 4.8 GWh of BESS ventures deployed throughout the U.S.
This collaboration ensures energy storage solutions for Qcells that satisfy domestic content mandates, since LG Energy Solution’s battery energy storage offerings are produced in Michigan, while Qcells’ photovoltaic modules are manufactured in Georgia. Apart from the immediate monetary advantage of attaining domestic content, utilizing American-made goods provides wider economic benefits. It bolsters U.S. manufacturing employment, fortifies the country’s clean-energy supply networks, improves grid dependability, and minimizes vulnerability to trade disruptions and duties.
“Qcells takes pride in collaborating with LG Energy Solution on an initiative that demonstrates the potential when energy advancement champions U.S. manufacturing,” stated Chris Hodrick, CEO of Qcells EPC. “This partnership embodies our mutual dedication to constructing clean energy properly: generating American employment, reinforcing supply chains, and supplying dependable, economical electricity for communities nationwide.”
Qcells runs the biggest solar module production plant of its type in the United States, located in Dalton, Georgia. The firm is constructing a second plant in Cartersville, Georgia, where it will produce ingots, wafers, cells and completed modules, representing the biggest investment in U.S. solar history to establish a comprehensive, sustainable national supply network. Upon full operation, Qcells’ yearly solar module manufacturing capacity in the US will hit 8.4 gigawatts—almost 46,000 modules daily—sufficient to energize over 1.3 million American households annually.
“We’re thrilled to extend our alliance with Qcells as we launch a new chapter together,” remarked Jaehong Park, CEO and President at LG Energy Solution Vertech. “Serving as a long-term ally to our clients is vitally important to us. We pledge to assist initiatives throughout their entire lifespans to ensure the enduring prosperity of our customers’ energy storage programs, and we anticipate witnessing the influence our combined project collection will have on the power grid.”
The energy storage solutions encompassed in this pledge are constructed employing the newest LG Energy Solution containerized lithium-ion battery technologies with LFP cells fabricated at American facilities. LG Energy Solution is producing up to 16.5 GWh of battery energy storage cells in Holland, MI, with manufacturing poised to escalate to approximately 50GWh at locations throughout North America by year-end 2026.
