BEIJING, Feb. 16, 2025 — David W. Ferguson, honorary chief English editor at Foreign Languages Press, described his initial impression of Moganshan town, Deqing county, as “astonishing” in his book China’s Development in the New Era – the Zhejiang Experience.

Moganshan’s excellent location and pristine environment have made it a prime leisure destination for many expats in China. This rural area of Zhejiang also captivated Ferguson, drawing him to participate in a mountain race from Beijing.

He wrote in the book that Moganshan reminded him of “an Alpine village in summer.” Marco Militzer, regional general manager of naked Retreats, shares this sentiment. Militzer stated his life ambition is to live in places he enjoys. He has resided in Moganshan for the past 11 years. The area is also attracting entrepreneurship among young people.
