Right now, no FDA-approved therapy exists for cannabis use disorder. No approved drug exists to treat cannabis withdrawal either. This leaves millions of people trying to quit with no support. It is one of the largest unmet needs in modern addiction medicine.

Clinical-stage biotech PleoPharma is presenting new data at the 88th CPDD Annual Scientific Meeting. The meeting runs June 13-17, 2026 in Portland, Oregon. One poster shares data from a 15-patient qualitative study that confirms the severe burden of withdrawal. A second poster shares Phase 2 CAN-002 trial results for investigational drug PP-01. High-dose PP-01 cut irritability symptoms by 43% versus placebo between days 2-5. That result is statistically significant at P=0.01, with a clear dose response. PP-01 is a once-daily oral drug now in Phase 3 development.

PleoPharma’s leadership team already has more than 50 global product approvals to their name. They have also launched over 100 INDs. There is no other approved product in this space. A successful Phase 3 will hand them full first-mover control of a brand new market.
