This year’s Ride is setting a new fundraising record with $20.61 million raised, exceeding the previous record of $20.6 million from 2024. All riders are united in their goal to create a world free from the fear of cancer and are participating in the two-day, 200+ km journey to Niagara-on-the-Lake to support Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, a leading global center for cancer research and treatment.

Dr. Miyo Yamashita, President and CEO of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, stated, “Cancer continues to be a major global health challenge. However, through the unwavering commitment of our Ride community, including riders, donors, supporters, and volunteers, we are collectively transforming how cancer is understood, prevented, diagnosed, and treated both in Canada and worldwide.”

Among the participants was Dana Fox, who has firsthand experience with the cause’s significance. Dana, who is undergoing treatment at The Princess Margaret for cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer, is determined to complete the 200km ride. In his opening ceremony remarks, Dana told the crowd, “You are fueling hope, funding discovery, and changing lives. This is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a movement.”

This year’s participants have collectively raised an impressive $20.61 million, bringing the Ride’s total fundraising amount to over $320.61 million since it began in 2008. These funds directly support vital cancer research and patient care at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, a leading global institution for cancer research and treatment.

Nicholas and Lia Fidei, the 2025 Honorary Chairs of The Ride, commented, “Having witnessed firsthand the success stories and met cancer survivors, we are fully convinced of the importance of supporting The Ride and the advancements in cancer research that The Princess Margaret is known for.” Nicholas, who is the President of Treasure Hill and the Nicholas Fidei Foundation, and also this year’s top individual fundraiser, added, “No other fundraising event I’ve been involved in has inspired me to achieve more.”

Currently, all riders are en route to Hamilton, where they will be greeted by supportive family and friends, enjoy a warm meal at camp gatherings, and spend the night at McMaster University. On Day 2, they will continue their ride to the finish line at Peller Estates Winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
