SUPERIOR, Ariz., April 19, 2025 — Resolution Copper is pleased with the White House’s decision to include the Resolution project in the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council’s list of critical mineral “transparency projects.”
This designation marks a key advancement in promoting openness, responsibility, and predictability in the permitting process for vital mineral projects in the United States. The company values the federal government’s acknowledgement of the crucial role that domestic copper production has in bolstering national security, manufacturing, and economic stability.
Beyond copper, the Resolution project will also provide significant quantities of other strategic and critical minerals. It has the potential to be a domestic source of at least seven other strategic and critical minerals found in the mine’s deposit, including indium, tellurium, bismuth, and rhenium. These minerals are applicable in diverse materials and technologies, spanning from semiconductors and aerospace to energy and national security.
“There is increasing awareness of the pressing need to cultivate domestic sources of copper and other vital materials to support the nation’s energy security and industrial foundation,” stated Vicky Peacey, General Manager at Resolution Copper. “We are dedicated to playing a significant part in delivering these materials and will continue to participate actively in the national conversation.”
“The Resolution Copper mine is essential for ensuring America’s energy future and infrastructure requirements through a domestic supply of copper and other critical minerals. We are heartened by the strong community and regional backing for the project, which could become one of America’s largest copper mines, contributing $1 billion annually to Arizona’s economy and generating thousands of local jobs in a region with a long history of mining.”
“We are still dedicated to a thorough, inclusive, and respectful collaborative process that integrates input from local communities, Tribal Nations, and all stakeholders. Over a decade of extensive consultation and collaboration with Native American Tribes and local communities has directly resulted in significant changes to the mining plan to protect and minimize potential impacts on cultural interests, and this ongoing dialogue will continue to shape the project.”
“As part of this initiative, we anticipate continued close collaboration with federal agencies to offer greater public understanding of the project’s advancement and to uphold the highest standards of environmental protection and cultural sensitivity.”
About Resolution Copper
The Resolution Copper project proposes an underground mine developed by reusing the disturbed area of the historic Magma Copper mine in Arizona’s Copper Triangle. The ore deposit is located approximately 7,000 feet below the surface. It is considered one of the most substantial untapped copper deposits today. The mine could become one of the largest copper mines in America, also yielding other strategic materials and critical minerals. More information is available at resolutioncopper.com.
