
KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 10, 2025 — Scrap Management Industries (SMI), a leading metal recycler in the U.S. and a prominent ferrous and nonferrous metal recycling company in the Midwest, has announced its acquisition of two recycling centers: 12th & Haskell Recycle Center in Lawrence, Kan., and East Wilson Recycle in Ottawa, Kan. This move expands SMI’s operations to eight and nine locations, enhancing its ability to meet recycling needs for residents, industries, and businesses in the region.
The facilities will now operate as Scrap Management Industries – Lawrence and Scrap Management Industries – Ottawa, and will continue to offer complete metal recycling services for both ferrous and nonferrous materials. 12th & Haskell Recycle Center and East Wilson Recycle have been well-known in the local recycling industry for 20 years. Under SMI’s management, the sites will improve their ability to provide industrial scrap management services, offering customized solutions for businesses of all sizes.

Located at 1006 E. 11th St. in Lawrence, Kan. 66046 and 2202 East Wilson St., Ottawa, Kan. 66067, the newly acquired facilities will serve as feeder yards for SMI’s existing Kansas City operation. The 15-employee team will continue to serve current customers while taking advantage of SMI’s large network of industrial suppliers and dealers.
