STOCKHOLM, May 26, 2025 — Skanska has secured a contract with Specialfastigheter Sverige AB for the expansion and refurbishment of the Österåker correctional facility, located north of Stockholm, Sweden. The contract is valued at approximately SEK 1.3 billion and will be recorded in the Swedish order bookings for the second quarter of 2025.
Skanska has been involved in construction and preparatory work for the final phase of the project since early 2022, which has now been agreed upon. The overall construction project includes the renovation of two buildings, the construction of 13 new buildings, and various smaller service buildings. Additionally, ground and foundation work will be carried out. The handover to Specialfastigheter Sverige AB will occur in stages until autumn 2027.
When including work already invoiced, the total project value for Skanska amounts to about SEK 2.7 billion.
