CANCUN, Mexico, March 13, 2026 — To mark International Women’s Day, Sunset World Group hosted a series of special events across all of its hotel properties: Hacienda Tres Ríos, Sunset Royal, Sunset Marina, Sunset Fishermen, Ocean Spa, and Laguna Suites, to honor the valuable contributions made by women on its team. Planned activities included specially arranged breakfasts or lunches for female staff, as well as live music gatherings that built a warm atmosphere of celebration and recognition.
Themed conferences were also held throughout the day, highlighting women’s strength and the fundamental role they fulfill across professional, family, and social spaces. As the core highlight of the celebrations, the “Sunset World Woman of the Year 2026” award was presented at each of the group’s hotels, a distinction that recognizes female employees who stand out for their commitment, team spirit, and exemplary conduct within the organization. This award is selected via a secret ballot process open to all female employees, who vote for the colleague they see as an inspiration due to her strong work performance and positive attitude.
2026 is the fourth consecutive year these awards have been issued, reaffirming the company’s longstanding commitment to equality, respect, and the advancement of female talent. Through these activities, Sunset World Group not only commemorates this important date, but also acknowledges the dedication, leadership, and resilience of the women who contribute every day to the organization’s success and growth.
Sunset World Group is a Mexican family-run business founded by some of Cancun’s earliest development pioneers, who helped turn the region into the most in-demand tourist destination across the globe. With over 30 years of experience in the hospitality sector and a genuine dedication to environmental protection, the company launched an Energy Efficiency Program that replaced supply technologies at its six hotels in Cancun and the Riviera Maya. Additionally, all Sunset World properties are powered by clean, renewable energy generated at Mexican wind farms and geothermal plants, a measure that has drastically reduced the company’s carbon footprint. The activity and dining programs at all six hotels are regularly updated and expanded to suit guests of all age groups, as Sunset World Group’s core focus is always on delivering the highest quality vacation experiences for its members and visitors.
