LANCASTER, Texas, May 15, 2025 – Over 90 drivers at United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI) have overwhelmingly chosen to join Teamsters Local 745. These workers united with the Teamsters to gain access to the superior wages, benefits, and working conditions already secured by thousands of UNFI Teamsters across the nation.

“We are delighted to welcome these new members to our Local 745 family and are dedicated to assisting them in securing the strongest possible Teamsters agreement,” stated Brent Taylor, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 745 and International Vice President of the Teamsters Southern Region. “These employees have witnessed the achievements of their fellow Teamsters nationwide and are eager to replicate that success.”

UNFI, the primary distributor for Whole Foods, has experienced a significant increase in Teamsters organizing victories in recent years. Since 2022, more than 3,000 employees have organized with the Teamsters.

“We recognize that joining the Teamsters is the only way to guarantee the compensation, benefits, and respect we are entitled to,” stated Charles Evans, a UNFI driver and new member of Local 745. “We are prepared to negotiate an initial contract that mirrors the accomplishments of Teamsters at other UNFI locations.”

The UNFI drivers in Texas represent the latest group of company employees to join the Teamsters. Just last month, workers voted by a 2-to-1 margin to join Teamsters Local 200. This victory comes after a at UNFI facilities in Florida, Georgia, and Illinois — where over 1,000 Teamsters ratified agreements securing $8 hourly raises, comprehensive Teamsters health care, a defined benefit pension plan, strong seniority rights, and more paid time off.

“The Teamsters are demonstrating to UNFI employees throughout the country what can be achieved through collective organization and action,” stated Tom Erickson, Director of the Teamsters Warehouse Division. “Employees are observing the robust contracts we are negotiating and are joining the Teamsters in overwhelming numbers because they understand they deserve the same. We will persist until every UNFI employee is protected by a strong Teamsters contract.”
