This partnership involves supplying Trinasolar’s advanced Elementa 2 platform (5MWh) for the 300MWh Abydos Battery Energy Storage Project situated in Aswan, Egypt. This significant project represents the largest solar PV undertaking in Africa and marks the first integration of a utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Solution (BESS) in Egypt.
Developed by AMEA Power, the Abydos Solar PV Project constitutes a substantial expansion of the operational 500MW Abydos Solar PV power plant located in Kom Ombo, Aswan Governorate. The innovative inclusion of a 300MWh BESS highlights Egypt’s dedication to sustainable energy innovation and resilience.
The 500MW Abydos Solar Power Plant’s inauguration ceremony, hosted by AMEA Power, was attended by prominent figures, including Egypt’s Prime Minister, His Excellency Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, and the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, His Excellency Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, along with Trinasolar executives.
As Trinasolar’s inaugural energy storage project in the Middle East and Africa (MEA), Abydos signifies a crucial achievement for both the company and the region.
