RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Dec. 18, 2024 — A news report by Tri Viet Media JSC:

The spring roll, which is harmonious in ingredients, texture and flavor, is one of the quintessence of Vietnamese cuisine introduced in “Vietnam Day in Saudi Arabia 2024”.

From December 13th to 15th, Riyadh, the Saudi Arabian capital, will host “Vietnam Days Abroad 2024,” showcasing Vietnamese culture in the Middle East under the theme: “Convergence of Millennia’s Essence – Ascending in the New Era”.

A Showcase of Vietnamese Culture

This event will highlight the best of Vietnamese culture, blending traditional and modern elements. A photo exhibition celebrating 25 years of Vietnam-Saudi Arabia diplomatic relations will feature milestones in their friendship and Vietnam’s natural beauty and heritage.

Traditional arts like Dong Ho woodblock printing, To he clay modeling, and a lacquerware exhibition featuring works by artist Tran Anh Tuan and international students will be presented, demonstrating Vietnamese artistry in a global context.

Musical Performances and Culinary Delights

Performances of traditional Vietnamese instruments, including the đàn bầu, đàn nhị, đàn tam thập lục, and flute, are planned. A reenactment of the Tố Nữ painting, combined with music and theater, will offer a unique cultural experience.

Halal-compliant Vietnamese cuisine will be a key feature. Culinary expert Nguyen Thuong Quan, President of the Vietnam Chefs Association (VICA), will lead visitors on a culinary journey, showcasing traditional dishes adapted to Islamic dietary guidelines.

The spring roll exemplifies the essence of Vietnamese cuisine, showcased at “Vietnam Day in Saudi Arabia 2024″.

“To meet Halal standards, we’ve substituted chicken and beef for pork and incorporated familiar Arabic spices to appeal to Arab palates. We aim to present Vietnamese cuisine through both taste and its stories,” explained Nguyen Thuong Quan.

A special pho sốt vang (beef noodle soup) infused with star anise, cardamom, and cinnamon—common Arabic spices—will be served, offering a fusion of Vietnamese and Middle Eastern flavors.

Strengthening Vietnam’s International Image

Le Thi Hong Van, Director of the Department of Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO, highlighted the event’s significance in strengthening relations with Saudi Arabia, a key Middle Eastern partner. This cultural exchange deepens cooperation and promotes Vietnam as a dynamic, culturally rich nation with global ambitions.

This event serves as a cultural bridge connecting Vietnam to the world. It is an opportunity to share the beauty of Vietnamese culture in Saudi Arabia.
