SYDNEY, May 23, 2025 — Vivid Sydney 2025, the largest event in Australia, has commenced its 15th annual celebration, filling the city with light and innovation. Running for 23 nights until Saturday, June 14, this year’s festival explores the theme of “Dream” and presents a world-class selection of light displays, ideas, music, and culinary experiences.

The festival features more than 200 events spread across five distinct areas within the city’s central business district, all created to spark curiosity, stimulate thought, and offer attendees a fresh perspective on Sydney.
Vivid Sydney is now more accessible than ever, with over 75% of the program being free, including the entire Vivid Light Walk. Martin Place is also returning to the festival after being absent for seven years.
This year’s festival will showcase globally recognized figures from the realms of entertainment, food, and pop culture, such as Martha Stewart, Nigella Lawson, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, and Portishead’s Beth Gibbons.
Minister for Jobs and Tourism Steve Kamper stated, “Sydney is set to shine! As we celebrate its 15th year, this premier event continues to highlight the best destinations and creative talent our city has to offer.”
“Vivid Sydney is continually expanding in size and impact, attracting millions of visitors and solidifying Sydney’s status as the leading destination in the Asia Pacific region.”
“With over 75% of the program available for free and the entire Vivid Light Walk open to everyone, it stands as one of the most inclusive events in the country, and this year’s program provides something for everyone.”
“It is a festival that brings communities together, supports local businesses, and boosts our visitor and nighttime economies. We are excited to see the city come alive tonight!”
Vivid Sydney 2025 commenced at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Circular Quay with the annual ceremony, featuring performances by NAISDA dancers that celebrated Yolngu culture from Arnhem Land. The ceremony reached its peak at 6pm as Sydney Harbour was illuminated with fireworks, projections, and installations on the city’s iconic buildings and landmarks, followed by a complimentary concert that celebrated the strength and pride of First Nations music.
