A Russian drone attack on a Ukrainian military hospital and shopping center late Saturday resulted in two deaths and 35 injuries, according to Ukrainian officials.
Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported on Sunday that a 67-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman were killed in the attack. This incident occurs amidst ongoing Russian aggression, despite attempts by the Donald Trump administration to facilitate peace talks.
Ukrainian sources indicate that numerous casualties were servicemen receiving care at the military hospital.
According to Ukraine’s air force, the attack involved 11 Russian drones. 65 were intercepted, and another 35 were either electronically disabled or malfunctioned.
Reports last week indicated that Russian forces were expected to intensify attacks to strengthen their position in peace negotiations.
President Zelenskyy stated during a visit to Paris on Thursday, “They’re prolonging the discussions and attempting to ensnare the U.S. in endless, unproductive debates about false ‘conditions’ to gain time and seize more territory.”
The Saturday night attack followed an incident on Friday evening in Dnipro, eastern Ukraine, where Russian drones killed four and injured 24, as reported by regional Governor Serhii Lysak and Ukraine’s emergency service. Additionally, at least eight were injured in Kryvyi Rih, Zelenskyy’s hometown, by a Russian ballistic missile, according to Governor Lysak.
President Vladimir Putin commended the “strategic initiative” of his forces on Thursday.
He stated at a public forum, “Our troops are advancing, liberating territory and settlements daily.”
Zelenskyy has urged the Trump administration to resist Putin’s demands during negotiations.
On Thursday, Zelenskyy met with French President Emmanuel Macron before a Paris summit involving approximately 30 nations. Discussions focused on bolstering Kyiv’s position and military strength as it seeks a ceasefire with Russia, including proposals for deploying European troops in conjunction with any peace agreement.
