ISIS and Iran intensifying worldwide campaign targeting Jews, Israeli spy chief says

A warning has been issued that Iran, ISIS, and other jihadist groups are still intent on targeting Jewish people globally, with senior intelligence officials raising concerns about a significant increase in terrorism worldwide.

Addressing the public shortly after the Hanukkah attack in Australia, Mossad chief David Barnea stated that Israel’s intelligence service would track down “those who dispatched the perpetrators no matter where they escape, and we will make them answer for their actions,” noting that “justice will be served and be visible to all.”

Barnea indicated that the Sydney incident illustrates a wider and persistent danger. “The criminal concept of terrorism aimed at innocent civilians has been and continues to be a fundamental element of the current Iranian regime’s security doctrine,” he remarked. He cautioned that “jihadist factions, ISIS and similar groups, have also decided to target every Jewish person worldwide.”

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of those killed in Australia,” Barnea expressed. He noted that such assaults aim to shatter Jewish resolve, but emphasized, “Our spirit will remain unbroken. We will persist in observing our traditions and living our lives both in Israel and across the globe.”

These statements were made as Australian and global authorities continue their probe into the Bondi Beach assault that left 15 dead and many others injured. According to Australian authorities, the attackers were motivated by Islamic State ideology, and DIY ISIS flags were discovered in their car.

The incident has also intensified demands in Washington for a more aggressive counterterrorism stance. Representative Andy Barr (R-Ky.) told Digital, “We must maintain an offensive approach and never revert to ineffective policies. Under President Trump, America’s power has been restored, and terrorists are aware of it. Iran’s nuclear ambitions were severely hampered, ISIS leadership was decimated, and a unmistakable signal was delivered: threaten Americans and you will be destroyed.”

The Bondi assault came after months of alerts from Israeli intelligence about a growing terrorist danger to Jewish populations and Western countries, fueled by networks connected to Iran as well as Sunni jihadist organizations. High-level Israeli intelligence informants previously informed Digital that Mossad had warned Australian officials about Iran-affiliated terrorist operations well ahead of the attack, emphasizing that the risk was not limited to one nation.

“Today it’s one group. Tomorrow it’s Iran,” a senior Israeli intelligence official stated, characterizing a threat landscape where numerous extremist entities operate simultaneously and frequently in intersecting spheres.

The official further noted that Israeli intelligence has detected or thwarted comparable operations across Europe, Africa, and Asia, encompassing suspected schemes in Austria, South America, India, and Thailand. “If you were aware of the number of terrorist attacks Mossad has averted, you would be astounded,” the source commented.

Barnea also cautioned that Iran’s employment of terrorism is intrinsically linked to its larger strategic objectives, including its nuclear aspirations. He asserted that Tehran “will race to acquire nuclear weapons as soon as it has the capability,” and that “the ambition to develop a nuclear bomb remains firmly entrenched in their thinking.”

Barnea stated that Israel bears the responsibility to guarantee that Iran’s nuclear program, which he claimed has been significantly set back through extensive collaboration with the United States, is never reactivated.

While Australian authorities continue their inquiries, Israeli intelligence officers indicate that the Bondi Beach incident aligns with a wider worldwide trend of terrorism propelled by both Iran-supported networks and jihadist doctrine, underscoring Barnea’s admonition that the danger continues to be dynamic, evolving, and worldwide in scope.
