Israeli minister details Iran mission goals, states Iranian people now have opportunity to ‘regain their freedom’

An Israeli official tells Digital that the U.S.-Israeli mission in Iran has two primary objectives that could offer a chance to alter the trajectory of the Middle East’s future as their military forces continue striking the .

Israeli Minister of Diaspora Affairs Amichai Chikli stated in a Monday interview that the first of the two goals is eliminating existential threats like Iran’s ballistic missiles—weapons that were rapidly being repaired following last year’s , which targeted key Iranian nuclear sites.

Chikli said these missiles “can launch into the heart of our cities, into hospitals” and must be destroyed.

Regarding Iran’s nuclear program, he added there are “still components that need to be removed.”

The mission’s second goal is creating conditions to change Iran’s regime, Chikli said.

“We know full well that neither the IDF nor the U.S. Army will replace the regime in Iran,” he stated. “It’s up to the Iranian people—who now have the greatest opportunity in over 40 years since the revolution began to act to build a different reality in Iran and regain their freedom.”

President  on Saturday encouraged the Iranian people to take control of their government once the U.S. and Israel complete combat operations in Iran, telling them to “seize control of [their] destiny.”

“The hour of your freedom is at hand. Stay sheltered. Don’t leave your home. It’s very dangerous outside. Bombs will be dropping everywhere. When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take,” Trump said. “This will likely be your only chance for generations.”

A U.S. senior official previously confirmed to that Iran’s was among five to 10 top leaders killed in an Israeli strike in Tehran as part of “Operation Epic Fury.”

Chikli discussed a scenario where Iran could align with “the West, with freedom, with human dignity,” adding that “we need to push forward to achieve this kind of change in Iran.”

“Iran is a major state with abundant resources, and it can be an ally,” he said. “An , it can be an ally of the U.S., the UAE, Kuwait and every moderate regime in the region.”

against the U.S. and Israeli attacks has focused on Israel and U.S. assets in the Middle East, including in Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan.

Iran’s actions prompted many Arab countries to  and affirm solidarity with one another.
