President Lula in Intensive Care Following Head Hemorrhage Surgery

Following surgery to address an intracranial hemorrhage, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is currently stable and under observation in an intensive care unit at Sirio-Libanes hospital, according to a statement released early Tuesday morning.

The 79-year-old president underwent the procedure after experiencing headaches attributed by physicians to a fall he suffered at home in October.

The hospital reported that President Lula, who traveled from Brasília to São Paulo for treatment, is in good condition and under close monitoring in the ICU following the successful drainage of the bleeding.

The president’s office has not yet commented on the situation.

President Lula’s office previously stated that he canceled plans to attend a BRICS summit after the October fall, which resulted in a visible head wound.

Sirio-Libanes hospital announced a press conference scheduled for 9 a.m. local time to provide further details regarding the surgery.
