Qatar Agrees to Expel Hamas From Doha at Biden Administration’s Request

According to CNN, Qatar has agreed to expel Hamas from the country following a request from the Biden administration. This decision comes after repeated unsuccessful attempts to secure the release of the remaining hostages Hamas militants kidnapped from Israel on October 7, 2023.

The move follows Hamas’s repeated rejection of hostage release proposals.

A U.S. official has described Qatar as “invaluable” in negotiating the release of almost 200 hostages, but stated that Hamas’s presence in Doha is no longer sustainable or acceptable.

Hamas has refused offers to release even “a small number of hostages” during recent meetings in Cairo, following the killing of Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader responsible for the October 7 attacks on Israel.

Sinwar was killed in Gaza by Israeli forces in October.

In August, Hamas terrorists killed six hostages, including Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin, as Israeli forces closed in on a rescue attempt in the tunnels beneath Gaza’s Rafah.

Negotiations for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas have stalled, with Israeli officials emphasizing the release of the hostages as their top priority.

The Justice Department has indicted several high-ranking Hamas leaders in connection with the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
