Real-Life Horror: Ceiling Collapse Plagues ‘Final Destination’ Screening

In a bizarre twist of fate, a screening of “Final Destination: Bloodlines” in Argentina mirrored a scene from the film itself when the theater’s ceiling collapsed on moviegoers.

The incident occurred on May 19 at Cinema Ocho in La Plata, Buenos Aires, during a showing of the sixth installment in the “Final Destination” franchise, according to an Argentina-based digital news source.

Fiamma Villaverde, who was at the screening, told the outlet that attending the movie was a spontaneous decision made due to discounted tickets on her birthday. She, her 11-year-old daughter, and a friend bought popcorn and entered the theater just as the movie was starting.

The “Final Destination” series revolves around individuals who escape deadly disasters only to be relentlessly pursued by death.

Villaverde recounted that near the film’s end, a loud crash startled them.

“We initially thought it was part of the movie because we were so engrossed, but then a large piece of the ceiling fell on me,” Villaverde explained.

She reported that the falling debris struck her shoulder, back, knee, and ankle. Fortunately, she avoided more serious injuries because she was leaning on the armrest, which protected her head.

Villaverde requested a refund and expressed her anger to the theater manager, emphasizing the potential danger to her daughter and calling the situation “irresponsible”.

Social media is filled with videos and images depicting a hole in the theater’s ceiling and debris scattered across the floor.

One X user commented, “When life imitates art,” alongside an image of the collapsed roof.

Another user noted the lack of fatalities, remarking on the irony of the incident occurring during a “Final Destination” film.

Some attendees suggested that recent heavy rains may have contributed to the ceiling collapse.

As of now, the theater has not released any official statement.
