Early Thursday morning, Russia initiated a missile strike on Ukraine, launching multiple missiles, including reports of an intercontinental ballistic missile, from the Astrakhan region.
Ukraine’s Air Force, via its Telegram channel, reported successfully intercepting six Kh-101 cruise missiles with air defenses.
The air force stated that the Russian attack targeted critical infrastructure in the region.
This follows a Ukrainian strike on using American-supplied long-range missiles. This marked Kyiv’s first such attack in the 1,000-day conflict, authorized by President Biden on Sunday.
No casualties or injuries have been reported at this time.
The alleged use of an ICBM would represent a significant escalation in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, marking the first instance of such a weapon’s deployment in this war.
This is a developing story. Further updates will follow.
