US Navy Thwarts Second Houthi Attack in Gulf of Aden This Month

U.S. Navy destroyers successfully intercepted and neutralized multiple Houthi-launched missiles and drones during their transit of the Gulf of Aden on December 9th and 10th, according to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

The USS Stockdale and USS O’Kane, while providing escort to U.S. commercial ships, engaged and destroyed a series of Houthi attacks, including unmanned aerial vehicles and one anti-ship cruise missile.

This marks the second such incident in a month, following a similar successful defensive action from November 30th to December 1st.

“This action demonstrates CENTCOM’s continued commitment to safeguarding U.S. personnel, regional partners, and international maritime traffic from attacks by Iran-backed Houthi forces,” CENTCOM stated.

No American personnel were harmed, and neither ship sustained damage, CENTCOM confirmed.

The conflict continues, with Houthi rebels pledging to persist until Israel concludes its operations in Gaza.
