BEIJING, Dec. 21, 2024 — CICG recently launched an animated film, “The Legend of the Dragon,” celebrating traditional Chinese culture. Inspired by dragon mythology, this video aims to showcase China’s rich cultural heritage to a global audience.
Set during the legendary Battle of Zhuolu, “The Legend of the Dragon” depicts the origins of Chinese civilization. The Yellow Emperor and Chi You clashed in an epic struggle for control of the Central Plains. Chi You’s powerful army challenged the Yellow Emperor. However, a colossal Yinglong (responsive dragon) intervened, summoning wind and rain to defeat Chi You, securing victory for the Yellow Emperor. Yinglong became a symbol of overcoming adversity in Chinese culture.
In agrarian society, the dragon was revered as a deity controlling weather and protecting harvests. Folklore portrays dragons as wise and benevolent, aiding the weak and punishing the wicked, shaping Chinese morality. Over time, dragon culture evolved into a symbol of the Chinese national spirit.
This narrative transcends a simple retelling; it highlights the depth and richness of Chinese history and culture. The dragon represents more than just agricultural patronage or military might; it embodies Chinese self-reliance, exploration, and aspirations for progress.
The dragon’s symbolic power extends beyond its origins, becoming a globally recognized cultural icon. The video uses this narrative to connect diverse cultures, fostering global understanding and appreciation of Chinese heritage.
Through “The Legend of the Dragon,” CICG hopes to share the Chinese spirit with the world, promote intercultural dialogue and integration, enhance global understanding, and collaborate internationally to create a richer, more harmonious global cultural landscape.
