OTTAWA, ON, December 21, 2024 – Transport Canada announced today that proposed amendments to the Air Passenger Protection Regulations, designed to enhance passenger protection during travel disruptions, have been published for public comment. The amendments aim to clarify and strengthen existing regulations, providing clearer guidelines for both travelers and airlines. This will, in turn, lead to swifter resolutions for passengers by removing ambiguities concerning compensation. Transport Canada encourages participation from all stakeholders, including passengers, airlines, airports, and civil society, during the 75-day public consultation period. Following this period, the final regulations will be published. The government is committed to balancing passenger rights with a competitive air travel industry.
