JOHANNESBURG and LONDON and WASHINGTON, Nov. 21, 2024 — C5 Capital, a specialized global investment firm, and Sibanye-Stillwater, a multinational mining and metals company (JSE: SSW and NYSE: SBSW), have formed a strategic alliance to collaborate on future advanced nuclear energy projects in South Africa, the United States, and internationally. This collaboration aims to leverage their respective expertise to maximize opportunities across the entire value chain.

Sibanye-Stillwater operates a diverse range of mining and processing activities across five continents. The company is a leading global recycler of PGM autocatalysts and is involved in mine tailings retreatment.

Sibanye-Stillwater holds significant uranium mineral resources, totaling nearly sixty million pounds, located in surface tailings at its Cooke Project and underground at the Beatrix mine (Beisa section) in South Africa.

The partnership will explore global opportunities in the identification, acquisition, financing, development, and management of uranium projects and production facilities. These initiatives have the potential to supply uranium for Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and their associated fuel cycles worldwide.

C5 Capital, a member of the World Nuclear Association (WNA), has signed the , supporting a global effort to triple nuclear energy capacity by 2050. At the COP29 UN Climate Change Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, six additional nations joined this declaration, increasing the total number of endorsing countries to 31.
