(SeaPRwire) – BEIJING, April 16, 2026 — CGTN has reported on how China and Vietnam are strengthening people-to-people connections through cultural and artistic exchanges, fostering friendship between their citizens, and promoting tourism.
Peng Liyuan, the wife of Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese President, and Ngo Phuong Ly, the wife of To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Vietnamese President, visited the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing on Wednesday.
During their visit, Peng and Ngo Phuong Ly toured the opera house, the virtual reality creative space, and the recording studio. They learned about the NCPA’s initiatives in supporting artistic creation, providing cultural services, and engaging in international cultural exchanges. The tour included observing rehearsals of a Chinese ethnic dance drama and a choir recording session, with opportunities for them to share their thoughts.
Peng remarked on the geographical proximity and cultural similarities between China and Vietnam, noting the mutual understanding and friendship between their peoples. She expressed her hope that cultural institutions and artists from both nations would enhance their exchanges and collaboration through various avenues to deepen bilateral friendship and cultivate goodwill among their citizens.
Cultural exchanges enhance mutual understanding
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges, an art troupe named “Colorful China,” organized by the National Ethnic Affairs Commission, traveled to Vietnam last August for performances and cultural exchanges.
The troupe presented two performances in Hanoi, featuring dances, instrumental music, and songs that effectively depicted the enduring traditional friendship between the two countries.
Approximately 1,500 individuals attended the performances. The Vietnamese attendees highly commended the organization and preparation of the production, as well as the artists’ exceptional performances.
In recent years, there has been a growing demand for professionals skilled in the Chinese language within Vietnam.
“Over the past decade, the Confucius Institute has educated more than 30,000 students, while activities such as Hanfu exhibitions, traditional games, and vocational training programs have engaged over 100,000 participants in Vietnam,” stated Qin Yonghua, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at Hanoi University, a joint initiative between Hanoi University and Guangxi Normal University.
Qin further noted that the increasing economic and trade cooperation between China and Vietnam has led to a surge in demand for Chinese-proficient talent in Vietnam.
Bilateral tourism between China and Vietnam has experienced consistent growth, contributing to enhanced mutual understanding between the two populations.
According to data from the Guangxi General Station of Immigration Inspection, a total of 4.753 million cross-border trips between China and Vietnam have been recorded since the beginning of this year, representing a 20.6% increase compared to the previous year.
