On July 28, 2024, The Baker Center detected unusual activity on its local digital storage system. Following immediate security measures, they engaged independent cybersecurity experts. The investigation revealed unauthorized access between July 26 and 28, 2024, potentially resulting in file downloads. A thorough review on October 28, 2024, confirmed that some individuals’ personal and/or protected health information may have been compromised.
Affected information varied but might include: name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, driver’s license or other government ID, financial account information, health insurance details, medical treatment or diagnosis information, and/or clinical data.
On December 27, 2024, The Baker Center mailed notifications to potentially affected individuals with verifiable addresses. These letters detailed the incident and steps to protect their information.
