These operators are introducing two network Application Programmable Interfaces (APIs) – KYC Match and SIM Swap – for the French market. These APIs meet a new standard aiming for cross-operator compatibility. France is the first nation where all four major carriers are deploying the KYC Match API, enhancing online business customer verification. Several operators are also providing Number Verification to developers.

Online transactions in France have increased by 37% since the COVID-19 pandemic, reaching €2.35 billion in 2023, with 77% occurring on mobile devices. However, 80% of French companies report online fraud attempts, and 45% say fraud has risen in the past year. The French Ministry of Interior reports a 40% rise in digital identity theft cases over four years. These new APIs provide an added security layer against fraud.

The APIs have undergone rigorous testing in France with financial institutions like BforBank and Fortuneo, who utilize KYC Match with DQE Software. Over twenty French companies use these APIs to prevent account takeovers and verify customer identities.

The GSMA Open Gateway initiative brings together global operators to create digital products functioning seamlessly across devices and operators. Since its launch, 67 mobile network groups (278 networks, three-quarters of global connections) and 26 channel partners have joined.
