TRIANGLE, Va., April 10, 2025 — For 77 years, Marine Toys for Tots has brought joy to children in need during the holidays. Recognizing that hardship doesn’t only occur during the Christmas season, the organization is expanding its efforts to support vulnerable children year-round. Through its impactful programs and donor support, the ‘Your Help, Their Hope’ campaign highlights the collective power to make a difference in the lives of children nationwide.
Since its inception in 1947, the well-known program has given away 708 million toys, books, and other items to 314 million deserving children, bringing happiness and relief to struggling families.
“Our year-round programs and the generosity of our supporters make this possible,” said LtGen Jim Laster, President & CEO of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. “We have the potential to help millions more children annually, giving hope to those who desperately need a reason to believe in a better tomorrow.”
Year-Round Programs Making a Lasting Difference
Toys for Tots is extending its assistance to children and families facing various challenges, including personal difficulties, natural disaster recovery, and ongoing systemic issues. These programs demonstrate Toys for Tots’ dedication to addressing the specific needs of children in difficult situations:
- Literacy Program: Provides books and learning materials to children in underprivileged communities, equipping them with the resources they need to learn, develop, and succeed both in and out of the classroom.
- Disaster Response and Recovery Program: Delivers toys, books, and other gifts to children whose families have lost everything due to natural disasters. Once essential needs are met, Toys for Tots offers emotional support and comfort by providing toys, books, and gifts, transforming despair into hope.
- Foster CareProgram: Offers vital resources to support children navigating the foster care system, reducing anxiety and bringing stability, comfort, and a sense of belonging to their lives.
- Holiday Program: Toys for Tots’ core program continues to spread holiday cheer by distributing toys, books, and games to disadvantaged children across the country, including those in isolated Native American communities without local campaigns.
