302ecf59a1cd6d741ef7511328bdc485 Mission Telecom Partners with Computers 4 People to Launch Low-Cost 5G Hotspot & Fast, Reliable Broadband Nationwide for Low-Income Households

This collaboration significantly reduces the cost of broadband for low-income families, lowering hardware expenses by almost 70%.

BOULDER, Colo., June 5, 2025, a nonprofit organization providing telecommunications services and grants to promote digital inclusion, has been selected as a service provider for (C4P)’s newly introduced $149 .

Mission Telecom and C4P jointly presented their new hotspot at a recent event. They announced it as one of the most affordable 5G routers currently available in the country, offering low-cost, nationwide broadband service through Mission Telecom. This partnership aims to bridge the digital divide by drastically reducing hardware costs by approximately 70% and delivering dependable broadband internet to eligible low-income households for just $14.89 per month.

Over half of low-income households struggle to afford internet, and lack home broadband access. While broadband costs are a barrier, the high cost of necessary equipment, particularly routers, is an often-overlooked factor in the digital divide. The Shield 5G Home Hotspot addresses this by providing a reliable, portable solution that supports both 5G and 4G networks. It is compatible with most SIM cards and significantly cheaper than comparable hardware.

According to , Director of Broadband Operations at Mission Telecom, “Our goal is to make top-tier internet accessible and affordable for those with the greatest need. By partnering with Computers 4 People, we are tackling a key obstacle to broader connectivity, opening up more opportunities for people’s lives. This dependable, budget-friendly solution will empower families across the nation to access essential online resources, without being excluded due to high service or equipment costs.”

, Founder and Executive Director of Computers 4 People, stated, “Internet access isn’t simple, accessible, or affordable right now. We are changing that by incorporating direct feedback from the communities we serve to make it even better. By joining forces with Mission Telecom, we can explore creative solutions and aim high. This launch of Shield Internet is just the beginning, and we’re excited to combine it with our ongoing efforts to provide computers and the skills needed to succeed in today’s digital world.”

Following a pilot program earlier this year in New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, the partnership is expanding nationwide. The goal is to provide fast, reliable, and unlimited internet to households receiving SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, free school lunch, or earning up to 200% of the federal poverty level.

Mission Telecom provides unlimited internet service to organizations like C4P, as well as schools, libraries, and other nonprofits, utilizing one of the largest 5G networks in the country without hidden fees, credit checks, or unexpected price increases. C4P, in collaboration with Mission Telecom, created the Shield 5G Home Hotspot, a portable and fully unlocked device, to promote digital equity across the country. The Shield 5G Home Hotspot is available for pre-order and will be offered in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
