FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Dec. 10, 2024 — Hyundai Motor Company has appointed Randy Parker as chief executive officer of Hyundai and Genesis Motor North America, effective Jan. 1, 2025. He will oversee all Hyundai operations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and Genesis operations in the U.S. and Canada. His responsibilities will also include Hyundai’s manufacturing plants in Alabama and Georgia. He succeeds José Muñoz, who has been promoted within Hyundai Motor Company. Parker will also retain his position as CEO of Hyundai Motor America.
“Randy Parker is a highly capable leader with a proven record of driving sales growth and effectively serving our dealers, customers, employees, and stakeholders,” said Muñoz. “With my transition to global president and CEO, I’m confident in the North American market’s continued success under Randy’s leadership.”
Parker’s leadership has been key to Hyundai Motor America’s significant sales growth. Joining in 2019 as vice president of national sales, he was promoted to senior vice president in February 2021 and CEO in August 2022, becoming the first African American to lead a major OEM regional market. Under his direction, Hyundai became one of the fastest-growing mainstream brands in the United States, achieving record retail sales for three consecutive years.
“It’s an honor to lead Hyundai and Genesis in North America and continue our growth,” said Parker. “North America is a crucial market for Hyundai globally. We aim to deliver exceptional products and enhance customer experience, adapting to evolving consumer needs and market trends. I look forward to guiding our regional teams and strengthening our dealer relationships.”
Prior to Hyundai, Parker was vice president of INFINITI North America, overseeing the brand’s performance in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. He has over three decades of automotive experience, holding leadership roles at General Motors (GM), GM Acceptance Corporation (GMAC), Nissan, and Infiniti. At Nissan, he served as division vice president of Global Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) sales and marketing, based in Yokohama, Japan, and regional vice president of Nissan USA’s western region.
Parker earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Christian University and completed executive management programs at Harvard and Penn State.
