The pure car and truck carrier market has been stuck in neutral for far too long. Seaspan just dropped a game-changer that no one saw coming.

On June 11, 2026, Seaspan unveiled the Glovis Lighthouse. It’s the first in its series of 10,800 CEU dual-fuel LNG PCTCs. It was developed in partnership with Hyundai Glovis. The vessel has embarked on its maiden voyage. It is among the world’s largest car carriers. It has 14 decks, four liftable decks and hoistable ramps. It cuts carbon emissions by 24% vs conventional fuels. It uses a shaft generator to minimize methane slip. It meets and exceeds current regulatory standards. It’s ready for methanol and ammonia use. It was delivered under a long-term charter to Hyundai Glovis.

Seaspan already runs one of the world’s largest maritime fleets. As of March 31, 2026, it operates 247 vessels with 2.5 million TEU of capacity. It added two new Very Large Ethane Carriers in April 2026. It also ordered four open hatch gantry crane vessels that month. The Glovis Lighthouse locks in a high-volume partnership with Hyundai Glovis. It raises the bar so high smaller carriers can’t keep up.
Any auto logistics provider that skips fleet upgrades will lose premium contracts. Seaspan just set a benchmark no one can match right now.
