Israeli official Ohad Tal stated to Digital that engaging in negotiations with Iran should not be the objective unless its “evil, jihadist regime” is first overthrown, despite President Donald Trump’s recent call for both nations to negotiate.
Tal, a member of the Knesset foreign affairs and defense committees, spoke to Digital from outside Jerusalem on Sunday, amidst ongoing strikes between Israel and Iran for the third consecutive day.
“We are currently engaged in what I believe is a historic war with Iran. We are now, hopefully, on the path to liberate not only ourselves and the Iranian people, but also the entire world from the threat posed by the Iranian regime,” he declared.
Earlier on Sunday, Trump suggested on TRUTH Social that “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal,” highlighting his administration’s prior success in mediating other conflicts, such as between India and Pakistan, “by leveraging TRADE with the United States to foster reason, cohesion, and sanity in discussions with two outstanding leaders who swiftly made a decision and STOPPED!”
However, Tal emphasized that the Ayatollah and the Muslim Brotherhood aim to “destroy Israel” and “destroy America.”
“I believe our primary objective should be dismantling the Iranian regime. If we genuinely want to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, the only effective solution is to eliminate this regime,” Tal asserted. “This regime’s sole purpose is not just to destroy Israel, they also intend to bring down America.”
He cautioned that further agreements would only enable Iran to rearm and advance its nuclear program.
“I find the mere concept of negotiating with a jihadist terror-supporting regime to be outrageous,” he added. “Our singular goal, and the goal we should all share, should be the downfall of this evil regime. Achieving this is essential if we genuinely desire to build a more stable and prosperous future for everyone in the region and the world.”
Trump previously rejected an Israeli plan presented to the U.S. to assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a U.S. official informed , due to concerns that it would further destabilize the region.
Tal told Digital that the West must recognize the necessity of dismantling “this evil, jihadistic regime” not only to safeguard the region but also to protect the “entire world from this threat.”
Since the Israel Defense Forces initiated a large-scale preemptive strike against Iran last Thursday, targeting key infrastructure and leadership, Tal reported receiving calls from Muslim and Arab leaders across the Middle East, who conveyed, “You are not only saving yourselves, you are saving us as well.”
“That is the reality. Iran and the Ayatollahs pose a threat not only to Israel but to the entire world. Therefore, I believe that Israel is doing a great service to the world by not looking the other way,” Tal stated. “We are not burying our heads in the sand. We are confronting this threat and fighting back.”
Tal reported that Iran has suffered “an unbelievable amount of damage” and that the IDF “basically has total control over the Iranian airspace.” He claimed that Israeli forces are targeting military bases, nuclear facilities, and officials, while Iran is targeting civilian populations. Some Iranian missiles have bypassed Israel’s aerial defense systems.
“They have a culture that glorifies death and disregards civilian casualties, whereas we have a culture that sanctifies life,” he stated.
Tal mentioned that he has received support from U.S. officials, including members of Congress.
He believes that Israel’s actions align with Trump’s “America First” policy, as the ongoing operation will prevent the United States from being drawn into a larger conflict.
“We are receiving 100 percent support from the Trump administration,” Tal stated. “Trump supports the America First Policy, and we also support it because fighting this evil regime will help prevent a much larger war.”
“If the Iranians had succeeded in acquiring a weapon, it would have posed a threat not only to America,” he continued. “We are not asking America to fight for us. We are simply asking them to support us in eliminating the threat emanating from Iran.”
