Norwegian Crown Princess’s Son Arrested on Rape Allegation

Police in Norway’s capital have charged Marius Borg Høiby, the 27-year-old son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, with preliminary rape charges.

Borg Høiby, stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, holds no royal title and has no official duties. He was arrested late Monday. According to Sky News, citing local media, he denies the allegation. The charge involves “sexual intercourse with someone who is unconscious or for other reasons unable to resist the act.”

The Royal House of Norway has not yet commented.

While the exact date of the alleged incident remains undisclosed, the victim’s lawyer stated that police initiated the charges and that his client is struggling to cope.

This arrest marks Borg Høiby’s second detention in recent months.

On August 4th, he was briefly held following a disturbance in Oslo, facing preliminary charges of bodily harm and criminal damage before being released. The Associated Press reported limited details, noting only a prior relationship between the suspect and the victim.

Borg Høiby resides with the royal family, including Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, and Prince Sverre Magnus.
