Trump to Houthis: Cease attacks on U.S. ships, and we will cease our strikes.

Following two weeks of U.S. offensive actions against the Houthis in Yemen, the President stated on Monday that if they cease attacks on U.S. ships, the U.S. will cease its attacks.

The Trump administration initiated these operations earlier in the month after the Houthi group renewed attacks against Israeli ships, allegedly after Jerusalem halted humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Trump stated on Truth Social that the “Iran-backed Houthi Terrorists” have been significantly weakened by the recent strikes, with numerous fighters and leaders killed.

He added that the U.S. is hitting them “harder and harder” every day and night.

According to Trump, the Houthis’ capabilities to target shipping in the region are being rapidly destroyed.

The Houthi network increased attacks on Western ships in the Red Sea after the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attacks on Israel. Experts note the attacks appear selective, avoiding Chinese and Saudi Arabian vessels.

Trump also addressed Iran, warning of potential action against Tehran if the Houthi attacks continue.

Trump stated that U.S. attacks will persist until the Houthis no longer threaten freedom of navigation, warning that the “real pain is yet to come” for both the Houthis and Iran.

Trump has recently issued warnings to Iran regarding military repercussions if it continues to arm terrorist groups or pursue nuclear ambitions.

U.S. Central Command has not yet released updates regarding the alleged deaths of Houthi leaders or details on recent operations.

Houthi representatives stated that an overnight strike near Sanaa, the Houthi-controlled capital since 2014, resulted in three deaths, according to reports.

The strike, continuing into Monday morning, followed a previous attack on Friday. Reports described the Friday attack as more “intense” than prior aerial campaigns, targeting multiple locations in and around Sanaa.
